Kings Oxford is famous for its high academic standards and prestigious university foundation course. The school also has an excellent reputation for IELTS preparation and is one of the largest IELTS testing centres in England.

The school itself is situated in a pretty residential area of Oxford only 10 minutes by bus from Oxford City Centre. Kings Oxford combines modern and spacious classrooms with charming historical features.

The school offers excellent facilities including a computer centre, self-access study centre, free internet, large restaurant and student centre, library, private study rooms, lecture hall and games room. 

Host family accommodation is available all year and the majority of students can walk to school from their host family. Residential accommodation (in a university student residence) is available in the summer. Airport transfers are available from all London airports. In addition there are excellent bus and train connections to central London and the airports.

Courses Available

Kings Oxford English with Art and Design

This is a specialist course combining General English lessons with specialised tuition in Art and Design which is ideal for students preparing a portfolio.

Students join the Intensive English Course to improve their general English skills in the mornings while Art tuition is given by our specialist Art teachers in the afternoons.

This course is suitable for students who need to improve their English for study or employment while preparing a portfolio of artwork or simply developing their painting and drawing skills. Students have 15 hours per week of English classes; and then spend an average of six hours per week with their Art teacher in the Kings Art Studio. Students are also expected to spend at least six hours per week working in the Art Studio on their projects.

The course may be taken as an Academic Year course (9 months from September to June) but shorter courses (minimum 12 weeks) are also available. Kings Oxford also offers A-Level Art and an Art Foundation Year Course.

General English

The general English course is ideal for those who want to improve their overall skills, focusing on grammar, reading, writing, speaking, listening and pronunciation.

This course includes a test on arrival , use of the Computer Learning Centre, weekly progress reports, teaching materials, 2 free social activities a week and an end of course certificate. Lessons are dynamic and interesting with lots of interactive learning and close attention from your teacher in a class of max 14 people. A variety of learning materials are used, including magazines, video, newspapers and online resources.

Students can choose between:
Compact: 20 lessons per week (15 hours) or
Intensive: 28 lessons per week (21 hours) PLUS 8 lessons per week in a choice of special interests.

Kings Oxford University Foundation

Pre-Foundation Year
2 semesters (Sep-Dec or Jan-Jun) – 16+

Min Entry Level: Completion of Yr10-11 high school / IELTS 4.5 or equivalent

The Pre-foundation Year is a one-year academic course for younger students (aged 16) or those who are not yet ready for the University Foundation Year (OUF) or GCE A-Levels.

When combined with the University Foundation Year, it provides a two-year pre-university programme which is an excellent alternative to GCE A levels.

 The Pre-foundation Year is a very intensive course which is taught in small groups (maximum 10 students per class). The syllabus provides a careful balance of English language, IELTS preparation, academic study skills and academic subjects to ensure that students make steady and rapid progress in a broad range of subjects.

Full Academic Year – September to June or Jan to August – Age 17+
2 Semesters: 34 weeks of tuition – 650+ hours
Min Entry Level: Students must have completed 11-12 years of school and have an intermediate level of English (i.e. IELTS 5.5)

University Foundation
